Nathan Walker ‘Sounding.js’ (2013)
Sounding.js is a project by artist Nathan Walker that phonically sounds the nonphonic code, symbols and alphanumeric programming language JavaScript. Using the written code as a score for vocalisation Sounding.js is an online digital performance text. The audio for Sounding.js was recorded at a live performance of the work at E-Poetry Festival 2013, Kingston University, London.
The score enables the user to activate the artists recorded voice by moving their cursor over the text. Each fragmented part of the digital score is made audible, ‘played’, and the user is given the ability to control speed, duration, direction and repetition; to create their own paragrammatic performance of the work.
